Welcome to poetryvlog.com
A weekly video reading of poetry by the poet.
dreaming nightmares
by Puma Perl
part I
the dream stood alone
on the avenue
a safe flew
from an empty
window
smashed, the dream
copped another bag
and went home
part II
i wish you could understand.
everything is not okay.
the might have beens
are dead, buried
alongside
contenders,
losers, dope dealers,
and babies born
to whores
today, words
gasp for air.
yesterday
is ruthlessly
victorious.
pretend
a truck
had hit me
as i stumbled
across an avenue,
unrecognizable
to grandmothers
and sons.
my life
for their futures-
broken stairways
rooftops
holes in walls
and arms
die intact,
unexplored.
at night
they sleep,
tucked in
beneath
star wars
sheets.
sneakers
under the bed
milk
in clean glasses
one bedtime story
worth more
than a thousand
poems
part III
living
on cereal
newspapers
and dreams,
mean
and unforgiving
as Judge Judy
party boats
pass
at midnight
techno crap
pollutes
the air
blackmailed
by yesterday,
vig paid
in penance,
regret,
madness
dreamt
a beach,
hidden
beneath
my window
a girl
tied her hair
up
dropped
her glasses
and floated
the fuck
away
home
