Last Tango Redux
by Lynn Cohen
You promised me Paris
one more time.
We would walk the Tuileries
full with rose blossom spring.
Wander the Louvre,
lost in Renoir’s and our own autumn dances.
Sip cappuccino in Momartre;
eat madeleines in Montparnesse.
Your arm brushing my back
possessive; playful.
We pretend there are no expectations,
but there always are.
So dance the last tango with me
rapidly,
Ole! Ole!
Get those feet in step:
one, two, three,
before the entanglement ends.
