in a forever field
fingers brush grass as if
answers ascend on touch
tongue licks the edge of autumn
carried on a translucent wind
eyes search for the eternal answer
one imperial point to explain
memories turned to dreams
tomorrows turned to wonder
in this motif of time we are
between past and future
all life every minute
every second lived out
together with no other
not our predecessors
not our progeny
only you only me
long futures out of reach
gold and yellows
bright red like a fire
already blurring the field
of a present moment
