Mother Love

If I could
I would tie
a rock
around your hurt
take it
to the deepest part
of an ocean
watch it
sink below
the surface
play my role
as mother goddess
separating
disappointments
from your life
as easily as I did
with kisses
that healed
your wounds
long ago
listen for
the struggle
to disappear
but I hear
your voice
stay strong
see your eyes
clear
you walk away
from me
something about
each step
the way you touch
the earth
the way
it receives you
the way
the changing course
of life
moves forward
and lets
contentment
inhabit my heart
