The Language of My Father

I long to hear his language
especially the verbs
can do predicates gave every subject purpose
dialect like song
sung with maternal sweetness by a gentle machismo
melodious, mystical
feared, revered
obeyed, respected
verbs in tenses
past, present - perfect
precious words
refreshed by relatives
replayed
leftover Italian soul food
satisfying, satiating
Latin linga
the language of my father
