A weekly video reading of poetry by the poet.
Song
by Charlene Knadle
At the Vanderbilt Mansion
I adjust my chair
on the uneven cobblestones
of the patio,
admire the clock tower
with its curved staircase
beside the raised platform,
tonight's operatic stage.
In the early evening's silence
voices dissipate
to the open air.
Soon the dark,
and arias
fill the hilltop neighborhood.
In the bush, a million crickets
and cicadas
blend their voices.
Art and nature,
each unaware of the other
outsinging the competition.
