Susan Pilewski was born and raised in Queens and is a graduate of the MFA program at Sarah Lawrence College. She teaches English at Suffolk Community College and SUNY Farmingdale. In 1999 she was the recipient of the Amy Award. In addition, she is the winner of the 2003 writing contest sponsored by Stony Brook's Institute for Medicine in Contemporary Society. Her work has appeared in such publications as The Long Island Quarterly, Chronogram, The ASBH Exchange, Talesian, Oberon and Long Island Sounds: An Anthology of Poetry. She was a radio co-host on WUSB along with poet George Wallace on the show, Poetrybrook, from 2000 to 2002. In addition Pilewski lent her voice and her poems to a CD entitled “Northport Celebrates Jack," a CD Tribute to Jack Kerouac by regional poets, accompanied by David Amram on piano, drums, flutes and other instruments.
