George Held is the author of 10 poetry collections and the editor of Touched by Eros, an anthology published by The Live Poets’ Society of Islip, NY. A five-time nominee for a Pushcart Prize, he has read from his work across Long Island and around the NY Metro Area, as well as in York, PA, and Baltimore.
His stories, poems, book reviews, and translations have appeared in such places as The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Notre Dame Review, Commonweal, Long Island Quarterly, and Confrontation. George's next poetry chapbook, The Art of Writing and Others, will appear in September 2007 from Finishing Line Press.
A retired professor of English at Queens College, he divides his time between Greenwich Village and Sag Harbor, in the company of his wife, Cheryl.
