TENTATIVE

Through the windows of
our
building we gaze across the avenue at
other
windows tinted to deflect the sun.

There’s no way of telling if
other
people are in there,
looking back across the avenue at
our
windows wondering if
anyone
is in here trying to look back at
them.

Below on the avenue,
the cars and trucks sit silent.

Nothing moves.

The green traffic light dances
on a wire in the wind.
