Ed Stever is a poet, playwright, actor and director.  He has published two books of poetry Transparency and Propulsion, with Writers Ink Press. He has won numerous writing awards, including an Emerging Writers Award at the SoHo Arts Festival in 1996, and in that same year a Distinguished Graduate Award from Empire State College for Performance and Writing.  In 1998, he received a Pushcart nomination for his poem, "The Purge."

Ed recently appeared as Nunzio in Over the River and Through the Woods, which he also directed. This past winter he appeared in the role of Matt Poncelet, the incarcerated murderer, in the Long Island premiere of Tim Robbin's Dead Man Walking and had the honor of performing before Sister Helen Prejean, whose life and work the play and movie are based on. His one-act plays have enjoyed productions in six New York City festivals. His most recent, The Fully-Evolved Model, was produced by Brass Tacks Theater as a part of their Third Annual Rosetta Festival. They also sponsored submission of his play, Airports and Hinduism, to the Samuel French Festival in 2003. In 2000, he took the top prize and was published in Theatre Oxford's National Ten Minute Play Competition for his one-act play, Shakespeare, Time Warps & Black Holes.

In addition to his clandestine career in the Public Affairs Department of a highly secretive governmental agency, he is an adjunct professor at Suffolk County Community College.
