You Shed a White Skin You Shed a Black Skin

          you are a new moon you are a full moon
          you are two fullmoom maples both fitting into the blue denim of july
          in poland you were a painted bird
          in poland we were naked as crocodiles
          except the last few days except our visit to the carpathian foothills
          this is where the train stopped
          this is where we listened to each link stopping in a black and white
              chain.
          in herculaneum our room was full of icelandic poppies
          one yellow and two red in three different places
          in herculaneum we had five days to talk of three white bodies in the
              black dust of a brothel
          from our pillows we called one suzie wong the other two were the
              nubian horsemen rufus and valentine
          in herculaneum we were a room full of golden rain trees!
          in herculaneum we were a room full of howler monkeys!
