Deborah Hauser’s poetry most recently appeared in Long Island Sounds: 2009 and Mobius: The Poetry Magazine. Her poem “Dear Reader,” was a finalist in the 2009 Crab Creek Review poetry contest and will be published there in 2010. She is currently working on a collection of modern fairy tales for “grrrls” of all ages.
Deborah holds an MA in English Literature from Stony Brook University and has taught at Stony Brook University and Suffolk County Community College. She has studied with George Wallace, Marie Ponsot, and Emily Fragos.
She is a poetry reviewer for Sotto Voce Magazine and was a proposal reviewer for the 2009 Feminisms and Rhetorics Conference sponsored by the Coalition of Women Scholars in the History of Rhetoric and Composition. Her academic writing has been published at MP: An Online Feminist Journal. She has presented her academic work at national conferences, including the 2007 Feminisms and Rhetorics Conference in Little Rock, AR.
She is an active member of the Long Island/New York City poetry community and a featured reader at venues across the Island and the City. In 2008, she served as editor of the Employee Council Newsletter for the Northeast Commercial Claims Center of Hartford Insurance (where Wallace Stevens once worked).
Deborah lives in Babylon, NY with her husband and their two cats, Hunter and Hemingway. She writes to exercise (and exorcise) her demons. You can “friend” Deborah on Facebook.
