Davidson Garrett is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana.  He has been a New York City taxi driver for over 25 years. A member of Screen Actor’s Guild, Actor’s Equity, and AFTRA, he trained for the theater at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and at The Herbert Berghof Studio in Greenwich Village. Since 1973, he has worked in theater, film, and television, and has performed in verse dramas of T.S. Eliot, W.H. Auden, and Shakespeare.

A graduate of The City College of New York with a B.A. and M.S. in Education, Davidson is a New York State certified teacher and taught elementary school for a number of years in the South Bronx.  His poetry has been featured in The New York Times, Xavier Review (New Orleans), Sensations Magazine ,The Unknown Writer, and The Wild Angels Poets and   Writers Anthology from The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine. He has been a featured reader at The New York City Gay and Lesbian Community Center for the In Our Own Write Series, and at theNuyorican Poets Caféas part of The Fifth Night Screenplay Series. 

In 2006, Davidson published his first book of poems, " King Lear of the Taxi" (Advent Purple Press), and made his solo reading debut at The World Monuments Fund Gallery in midtown Manhattan. In the winter of 2007, he was invited to give a series of readings from "King Lear of the Taxi" for the Queensborough Public Library.
