Beverly Smith has been writing prose and poetry since her early high school years. She is a lawyer and has done extensive legal writing in her legal practice. She enjoys the analysis and intellectual challenge necessary to achieve success with her legal writing but it is when writing poetry and working on her novel that she is happiest.
Beverly has been the Chairperson of the Long Island Poetry Collective for many years and along with the other Board Members of LIPC has worked to provide publishing venues, contests, peer workshops, readings and financial support for poets and poetry locally, nationally and internationally. She has been the winner of poetry prizes and has been published in an anthology of poems about Jack Kerouac, as well as other publications.
